SINGAPORE, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Malaysia Airlines is offering fares as low as $4 in an attempt to regain business in the wake of the tragic loss of planes MH370 and MH17 in two separate disasters this year.
Many of the flights originate in Singapore and are under the "Economy promo" fare. Tickets from Singapore to Perth, Australia are about 35 Singapore dollars ($27), before tax. Trips to Paris cost less than $200 before tax, and flights to other countries within Asia can be bought for as low as $4.
The airline has been hit hard financially due to the tragedies it has faced over the last six months. The company announced it will cut 6,000 jobs, a third of its workforce.
Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared over the Indian Ocean in March and still has not been found. Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was shot down over Ukraine in mid-July by pro-Russian separatists using a Buk surface-to-air missile.
