TEL AVIV, Israel, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Hamas appeared to give a warning the airport in Tel Aviv, Israel, will be a target of its rocket fire.
After the collapse of a cease-fire Tuesday between Hamas and Israel in Gaza, over 180 unguided rockets were fired toward Israel by Wednesday, and a spokesman of the al-Qassam Brigades, a military offshoot of Hamas, warned airlines from using Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport.
"We are warning international airlines and press them to stop flying into Ben Gurion airport from 6 A.M. Thursday," the spokesman said.
No incidents at the airport have been reported.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration banned U.S. airlines from using the airport in July, after a Hamas rocket landed near the airport, causing no damage. Other international airlines agreed to the ban and canceled flights, but travel into and from the airport began again after the FAA ban was lifted.
The FAA had no response to al-Qassam Brigades' threat.
