Gaza truce to be extended, media reports say

CAIRO , Aug. 18 (UPI) -- An agreement to extend the cease-fire in Gaza has been reached, and includes several minor concessions to the peace process, Israeli and Palestinian media reported Monday.

The five-day cease-fire is due to end at midnight Monday, or 5 p.m. EDT. However, the extension will be announced in a statement by Egyptian negotiators in Cairo an hour before, both the Palestinian news agency Ma'am and Israel's Channel 10 television broadcaster said. Egypt is serving as a facilitator to the peace talks.

Channel 10 said the agreement includes an easing of border restrictions in Gaza and an increase in Gaza's fishing zone in the Mediterranean Sea, adding larger issues will be considered at another peace negotiation to be convened in a month.
