DONETSK , Ukraine, June 30 (UPI) -- A cameraman of a Russian television channel died while reporting from Ukraine Monday, the Russian state news agency confirmed.
Anatoly Klyan, 68, a Russia One cameraman, was shot and killed while with a military unit in Avdiyivka, near the city of Donetsk. He was aboard a bus, on a trip organized by the self-described People's Republic of Donetsk group of pro-Russian separatists, which was struck with gunfire from a Ukrainian military unit, the state news agency Pravda reported. The incident occurred the day an extended cease-fire, ordered by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, is set to expire.
Klyan, a 40-year news veteran, is the third Russian journalist to die covering the crisis in Ukraine. Two employees of All-Russian state Television and Radio Broadcasting Co. died June 17 in a mortar attack.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, in a statement, said Klyan's death "has again showed convincingly that the security forces of Ukraine clearly do not want to de-escalate the conflict in the east of the country and block the truce instead."
