Second boat sinks off coast of Malaysia in 2-day period

A crowded boat sank off the coast of Malaysia on Thursday, a day after another overloaded boat capsized off the coast. More than 40 people remain missing.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, June 19 (UPI) -- A second boat in two days has sunk off the coast of Malaysia.

The crowded boat ferrying 27 Indonesian migrants to Sumatra for Ramadan sank early Thursday. 18 passengers were rescued while rescuers continued to search for nine others.

On Wednesday, an overloaded boat carrying 97 Indonesian nationals overturned off the Malaysian coast, with two confirmed deaths and 35 reported missing.
