VP Biden to attend inauguration of new Ukrainian president

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden will head to Kiev on June 7 to fete Ukraine's newly elected president, Petro Poroshenko. He will also meet with Ukrainian leaders and discuss U.S. assistance to Ukraine.

WASHINGTON, June 3 (UPI) -- U.S. Vice President Joe Biden will travel to Kiev on June 7 to attend the inauguration of Ukraine's new president, Petro Poroshenko.

Biden will lead a presidential delegation, although the details regarding the composite of the delegation were not immediately available.

While in Kiev, the vice president will meet with Ukrainian leaders to discuss Poroshenko's agenda.

He will also, the White House said, discuss the ongoing crisis in eastern Ukraine and "how the United States can assist Ukraine with fighting corruption, strengthening its democratic institutions, and putting its economy back on a path towards sustainable growth."
