KABUL, Afghanistan, April 24 (UPI) -- Three Americans were killed Thursday at a hospital in Kabul when a policeman shot them.
According to a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Interior, the Americans killed were "medical staff."

The gunman shot himself after the attack but survived, and is now in police custody. There is no further information regarding the motive for the attack.
The U.S. Embassy in Kabul tweeted confirmation that three Americans were killed in the attack. The embassy added that "No further information be will released at this time."

CURE International Hospital of Kabul, where the three Americans worked, was established in 2005. With 100 hospital bed and 27 doctors on staff, the hospital offers maternal and child health care, general surgery, and family health care.
