SYDNEY, April 20 (UPI) -- Prince George, at barely nine months old, has an Australian marsupial named after him.
Accompanied by his parents, the duke and duchess of Cambridge, Prince George spent Easter Sunday with George the bilby at Sydney's Taronga Zoo.
Zookeepers looked on as George wriggled to get closer to the bilby, though his mother pulled him back.
"He's trying to grab his ear," Kate Middleton said of her son. "He's got quite a strong grab actually."
"If he gets it he’ll never let go," Prince William added.
"[William and Kate[ already decided in advance they didn’t want [George] to touch the bilby," zookeeper Paul Davies told reporters. They said it wouldn’t be fair on the bilby.”
The Taronga Zoo visit was part of the royal family's three-week tour of Australia and New Zealand. They stopped at the Australian capital of Canberra on Monday, before making their way on to Uluru (or Ayers Rock) on Tuesday.
