Russian President Vladimir Putin is officially divorced, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed Wednesday.
Despite an announcement last June that he and his wife of 30 years, Lyudmia, were divorcing, Putin's official marital status as late as last week remained "married."

In June, the two announced on TV that their divorce was, in Putin's words, "a joint decision: we hardly see each other, each of us has our own life."
There was no further information regarding the reason for the delay in finalizing the divorce, although Putin has been quite busy with his occupation and annexation of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula.
