Russian soldiers took over Nahimov Naval School in Sevastopol during a tense ceremony that saw the lowering of the Ukrainian flag and raising of the Russian.
Ukraine announced Thursday that they would be evacuating Ukrainian troops and their families from the Crimea. Ukrainian military bases in the region were surrounded by Russian military personnel, making the removal process challenging. Once cleared to move in, Russian soldiers wasted no time in taking over Ukrainian military bases.
Shortly after it was announced that Russia's annexation was complete, Ukrainians ceded control of the Nahimov Naval School in a tense changing of the flags ceremony. Ukrainians lowered the flag of Ukraine while singing the Ukrainian national anthem and Russians raised theirs as the Russian national anthem played and shouted, "Raise the state and navy flag of the Russian Federation!"
