KABUL, Afghanistan, March 15 (UPI) -- Afghan President Hamid Karzai charged Saturday that Pakistan is supporting terrorism because it wants a regime in Afghanistan it can control.

Karzai, who leaves office after elections in April, said that some parts of the Pakistani government are backing terrorist organizations that are now killing Pakistanis. He said Pakistan has provided safe havens for the Taliban.

Neither Pakistan nor the United States are doing enough to work out a peaceful solution to the conflict in Pakistan, Karzai said.
