BUENOS AIRES, March 7 (UPI) -- CNN founder Ted Turner flew to Buenos Aires for surgery after being diagnosed with appendicitis during a visit to Argentina, a spokesman said Friday.

Turner was initially hospitalized in Bariloche, a resort city in the Nahuel Huapi National Park in the Andes foothills in Patagonia, the Buenos Aires Herald reported. He refused to undergo surgery at the hospital there and was transferred to Buenos Aires.
