BEIJING, March 5 (UPI) -- The U.S. Department of State announced Wednesday the debut of a new consulate in China's Guangdong province.
U.S. Consulate Guangzhou sits on a 7.5-acre lot in Guangzhou's Pearl River New Town district. The complex is comprised of two office buildings, a U.S. Marine Corps residence, a warehouse with service shops, and three entrance pavilions. The newest consulate is eco-friendly and received a Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Certification Institute's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
Under Secretary of State for Management Patrick F. Kennedy, Charge d’Affaires Dan Kritenbrink, Consul General Jennifer Zimdahl Galt, and Deputy Director of the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations Casey attended Wednesday's ribbon cutting ceremony.
