BANGKOK, March 5 (UPI) -- A hand grenade was thrown but did not detonate at the Bangkok home of a leader of Thailand's anti-government People's Democratic Reform Committee, police said.
They added the attack was likely meant to threaten homeowners Nataphol Teepsuwan and his wife Taya, but not to take their lives.
Another anti-government group, the Network of Students and People for the Reform of Thailand, rallied at the Bangkok headquarters of the ruling Phieu Thai Party Wednesday after party leader Jarupong Ruangsuwan called for a separation of Thailand's northern and northeastern provinces to form a new country, the Thai news agency MCOT reported.
The demonstrators attempted to remove the word "Thai" from the banner at the party's headquarters, claiming the party works for itself and not for the country. After their attempt failed, they covered the banner with one of their own, reading "Stop Separating the Country," MCOT said.
No arrests or injuries were reported.
