Explosion rocks Ukraine mine; four dead, 13 injured

DONETSK, Ukraine, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Four miners died and 13 were injured Tuesday after a blast at the Sviato-Pokrovska Mine in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, officials said.

Eleven of the 13 injured miners were showing signs of poisoning by mine gas, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine said.

The Prosecutor General's Office in Donetsk opened a criminal investigation into the explosion, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

"The police are investigating the case. The investigation is being overseen by the Prosecutor General in Donetsk region," the office said.
