Israeli airstrike hits underground rocket launcher in central Gaza

JERUSALEM, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- The Israeli military said it attacked an underground rocket launcher in Gaza Tuesday to retaliate for a Palestinian rocket attack on southern Israel.

A military official said the underground rocket launcher in central Gaza and a terrorism target in the northern part of the strip were hit in the airstrikes, the Jerusalem Post reported.

"The attack occurred after repeated projectile attacks, which Hamas did not stop in recent days," a military spokesman said.

A Palestinian rocket fired from Gaza exploded in open territory in the Hof Ashkelon region Monday, triggering an air raid siren, but caused no injuries the Post said.
