TEHRAN, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Iranians took to the streets Tuesday carrying flags and banners to observe the 35th anniversary of the Iranian Revolution, officials said.

Both Fars News Agency and Tasmin news agency reported millions of people rallied in the streets of Tehran and other cities throughout the country.

"The message of people's presence in the Feb. 11 rallies is that no one can impose anything on this people, the Iranian people deserve respect and no one can speak with them with the language of force and threat," Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said.

He called the rallies the "biggest backup for the nuclear negotiating team" in talks with world powers.

On Feb. 11, 1979, the Pahlavi Dynasty came to an end, marking the Islamic Revolution victory, Tasnim said.
