Body of missing Irish student found on restaurant roof in London

LONDON, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- An Irish student whose body was found on a restaurant roof in London's Leicester Square does not appear to have died violently, police said Friday.

Patrick Halpin, 18, was last seen alive just after midnight Wednesday when he told friends he was going to a Burger King, the Irish Times reported. The roof where his body was found almost 48 hours later is only a few yards away from the Zoo Bar, where he left his friends.

Metropolitan Police said in a statement that the death is regarded as "non-suspicious." Police said the body appeared to be Halpin, although there had been no formal identification.

Investigators were reviewing footage from security cameras to try to determine how Halpin ended up on the roof of the Chiquito Restaurant.

Halpin from Loughrea in Galway was a first-year drama student at Dublin City University. He was in London for a trip to theaters in the West End with the university drama club.
