SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Protesters unhappy with social and economic conditions in Bosnia have set fire to government buildings and clashed with police, authorities said Friday.
B92 Radio in neighboring Serbia cited reports from news media in Bosnia-Herzegovina that the large demonstrations began this week.
In Sarajevo, the Bosnian capital, demonstrators set fire to the Presidency building and five vehicles parked nearby. In Tuzla, Bosnia's third-largest city, protesters invaded a government building and then left quickly as smoke emerged. Protesters also threw stones at a court building.
Police estimated the crowd in Tuzla at about 3,000 people.
A BBC correspondent in Serbia said Bosnia has been paralyzed by ethnic divisions, with two separate governments. He said the unemployment rate is running at about 40 percent.
