CAIRO, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- An Egyptian court Sunday acquitted an al Jazeera photographer and 61 supporters of deposed President Mohamed Morsi who were arrested during clashes in July.
The defendants -- arrested in Cairo during pro-Morsi protests about two weeks after Morsi's July 3 removal from office -- had been charged with inciting murder, thuggery, possessing unlicensed weapons, vandalizing public facilities, blocking roads and using force against the security forces, Ahram Online reported.
The North Cairo criminal court acquitted the Morsi supporters and al Jazeera photographer Mohamed Badr of all of the charges, Ahram Online said.
Since Morsi's removal, hundreds of Muslim Brotherhood leaders, members and supporters as well as journalists have been arrested.
