The Palestinian News Network said Israeli forces prevented an ambulance from reaching the man's body after declaring the area a closed military zone.

"A Palestinian terrorist opened fire at an [army] post near Ofra," a statement from the Israeli army said. "The soldiers responded immediately in order to eliminate the imminent threat to their lives and fired towards the terrorist, identifying a hit."
