Israel releases soldier who gave documents to newspaper

JERUSALEM, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- A former Israeli soldier said she felt "great" Sunday as she walked out of a prison where she had been locked up for stealing military documents.

"I feel great," Anat Kamm told reporters outside the gates of Neva Tirza Prison. "I plan on catching up on sleep. I haven't slept much for the past few nights."

Kamm was paroled early for good behavior after more than two years in custody for smuggling the classified documents to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz. The newspaper said Kamm, who had originally been sentenced to four years, told reporters she "would have done many things differently."

Haaretz said a heckler outside the prison shouted Kamm should be considered a traitor and sent to prison for life.
