Palestinians say Israeli raid on college used 'terrorist means'

BETHLEHEM, West Bank, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Israeli troops used "terrorist means" when they fired on students at Al-Quds University in the West Bank, the Palestinian higher education ministry says.

The ministry denounced the attack, in which tear gas and rubber bullets were fired, as "desecrating the sanctity of the institution, obstructing the educational process," the Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported Thursday.

The ministry termed the attack as "military aggression" aimed at "intentionally horrifying thousands of students and staff members by utilizing all terrorist means including random heavy firing."

More than 100 Palestinians, including students, faculty and staff suffered excessive tear gas inhalation in the Wednesday raid on the Abu Dis campus, a spokesman said.
