CAIRO, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and 25 other defendants have been referred to a criminal court for insulting the judiciary, an attorney general said.
Morsi is already facing three separate trials for a variety of charges, including espionage and inciting violence.

The 25 defendants include Muslim Brotherhood and Islamist leaders, political activists, journalists, television personalities and a poet, Ahram Online reported.
The former head of the Egyptian Parliament Mohamed Saad el-Katatni is one of the defendants, along with political activist Alaa Abdel-Fattah, who also faces a suspended sentence of one year for torching the electoral headquarters.
