MOSCOW, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Russian police Friday blocked access to a website that offered to kill people for a fee, officials said.

Criminal gang members, former athletes and soldiers on the zakazat-killera site offered services such as "physical destruction."

They also said they'd administer a non-fatal beating if asked to do so.

The costs for services ranged from $1,000 to $5,000.

The operators of the site allegedly worked in Ukraine and other former Soviet states and promised clients there would be no trouble with law enforcement, RIA Novosti reported.

"According to open statistics, in July 2013 the site was browsed a total of 25,600 times," said Sen. Ruslan Gattarov of the Federation Council.

The website is anonymously registered through a Chinese company and is based in Moldova, officials said.
