Coal mine blast kills six people in China

BEIJING, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- A gas explosion in a coal mine early Thursday in eastern China's Jiangxi province killed at least six workers, authorities said.

Three more miners were injured in the 1:30 a.m. blast at the Hexing Coal Mine in Baitu, Xinhua News Agency reported. One of them was reported to be in serious condition.

The cause of the blast was being investigated. Other details of the incident were not immediately available.
