Russian prostitutes get 10-year terms for killing another woman

CHEBOKSARY, Russia, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Three prostitutes received 10-year prison terms in Russia's Chuvash Republic for strangling a woman they believed had stolen from them, officials said Tuesday.

The women, all in their early 20s, were charged with assaulting the victim during an argument in February in their apartment in Cheboksary, the Chuvash capital, RIA Novosti reported. Investigators said that after they accused the victim of stealing money they used a kitchen knife to cut her clothes and remove her hair.

The victim was then driven to a forest where the women beat her with brass knuckles, investigators said. She was then taken to another location where the women took turns strangling her with her own bra, a court found.

The body was concealed under the snow and discovered in April.

Oleg Dimitryev, a spokesman for the Investigative Committee, said no evidence was discovered that the victim had stolen money from her killers.
