MADRID, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Much of central Spain is going through an unseasonable cold snap, expected to last at least two more days and bring snow to several provinces, forecasters said.
ThinkSpain said temperatures in Madrid plunged to 23 degrees F overnight. In Granada it dipped to 28 and in Cordoba, where summertime temperatures can top 120, it was down to about 30 degrees early Saturday.
The central provinces of Guadalajara, Avila, Alicante and Lleida have been placed on an "orange alert" -- denoting a high chance of snow.
Forecasters predict between 4 and 8 inches to fall over the next several days.
The precipitation will be accompanied by gale force winds as high as 60 mph in some places. Roads in the region are expected to be icy making for potentially dangerous travel conditions.
