British neurosurgeon faces additional sex assault charges

BIRMINGHAM, England, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- A British brain surgeon faces 10 additional charges after more patients came forward alleging he sexually assaulted them during hospital visits.

Nafees Hamid, 50, was being held on charges he sexually assaulted a female patient at Priory Hospital in Birmingham in June. Since then, other female patients have come forward with similar allegations, The Independent reported Saturday.

Patients at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham said the same thing and a hospital spokeswoman said Hamid has been banned from practicing there pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings.

Hamid is due in court Tuesday to face the allegations, police said.
