18 bodies found north of Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Iraqi authorities say the bodies of 18 people who were kidnapped by a group of militants were found near Baghdad on Friday.

Among the victims, all of whom suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the head, were two tribal chiefs, four police officers and an Iraqi army major, Iran's state-supported Press TV reported.

The bodies were found hours after the victims were kidnapped in the town of Tarmiyah, located north of Baghdad.

No group has claimed responsibility for the killings. Press TV said members of the group were wearing army uniforms.
