Snowden documents reveal years of U.S. spying on Netherlands

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- A Dutch newspaper said documents leaked by Edward Snowden showed the United States had eavesdropped on their government since the end of World War II.

The NRC said this weekend the documents obtained from the fugitive U.S. intelligence contractor detailed U.S. spying on the Netherlands from 1946-1968.

It was not clear exactly what kind of information the Americans were looking for, nor whether or not the snooping stopped in 1968, DutchNews.nl said Sunday.

Some lawmakers said this weekend they wanted the government to dig into the U.S. activities in the Netherlands to learn their full extent and whether or not it was still going on.
