Palestinian official calls to cut ties with Israel

RAMALLAH, West Bank, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Palestinian Football Association head Jibril Rajoub says all economic, cultural and sports ties with Israel should be cut and a new round of violence started.

Rajoub called Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu a "liar" and accused Israel of "taking advantage of the [peace] negotiations in order to play for time and create facts on the ground," Ynetnews.com Monday quoted Rajoub as saying in a recent television interview.

During the interview, Rajoub was filmed with a small Palestinian child holding an M16 rifle. He openly called for the resumption of violence against Israel and the "escalation in the popular activity against the occupation," the Israeli website said.

"We are disgusted by these wretched statements and reject them,"a statement released by Israel's Football Association said. "Accusing Israel of fascism and Nazism and calling for an uprising can be seen as incitement, and it's hard to see how this can help improve the situation."
