CAIRO, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- A coalition of supporters of ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi called Saturday for a national dialogue.
The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy issued a statement titled "A Strategic Viewpoint," Ahram Online reported. The group said "the arrests, bloodshed and hate speech" that have disrupted Egypt in recent months must end.
For the first time, the group did not call for Morsi's return to the presidency or the revival of the Shura Council, Ahram said.
Morsi, a longtime member of the Muslim Brotherhood, became Egypt's first democratically elected president last year. But he was removed from office by the military in June after widespread protests and is currently in prison, charged with ordering the killing of protesters in front of the presidential palace.
