AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- A Dutch children's charity created a fictional Filipino girl to help identify 1,000 adults who wanted to have webcam sex with a child, the organization said.
The charity, Terre des Hommes, created the girl, named Sweetie, to lure adults by offering to perform sex acts online, DutchNews.nl reported Monday.
Whether Sweetie was a real person acting as an underage Filipino, or if her identity merely existed as an online profile was unclear.
The 1,000 adults lured by the trap were identified and recorded on film, and the information was turned over to Dutch authorities, the news website said. The adults were in 65 countries.
A spokesman for the Dutch national police said if the charity's actions are regarded as entrapment, it may be hard to file charges.
