Militants kill more than 30 in northeastern Nigeria

MICHIKA, Nigeria, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Witnesses said militants killed more than 30 people, including several members of a wedding party, in Michika in northeastern Nigeria.

A source in a government hospital in Maiduguri confirmed the hospital had "received the bodies of over 30 people suspected to have been killed while coming from a wedding Fatiha as most of them wore same wedding uniforms on Saturday evening."

Boko Haram militants in Michika, a local government area of the Adamawa State, were suspected to have carried out the attack on a highway as the wedding party was returning from a Fatiha -- a prayer service -- Daily Post Nigeria reported Sunday.

The groom was among the victims, the newspaper said.

"We saw many bodies, many of whom were riddled with bullets, while some were covered in blood having been slaughtered beside the road," one witness said.
