ATHENS, Greece, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- A Greek couple who allegedly purchased an infant for $5,519 from a woman in Athens faced a judge Friday on charges of abduction, court officials said.
The 53-year-old man and 48-year-old woman, whose names are not being released, were arrested after police received a tip they had a girl in their home who was not their biological daughter, Ekathimerini.com reported.

Police said the couple gave the mother cash in exchange for the baby, who was only a few days old.
The child has been taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
