80 injured in commuter train crash at Buenos Aires station

BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- A train crashed into a buffer Saturday morning at a Buenos Aires station, injuring at least 80 people, Argentine officials said.

The collision was eerily similar to one at the same station that killed 51 people in February 2012, the Buenos Aires Herald reported. But this time, no deaths had been reported by Saturday afternoon and the worst injuries appeared to be broken bones.

The crash was at the central 130-year-old Once Station. Like the one last year, it involved a train on the Sarmiento commuter rail line.

Edgardo Reynoso, the union representative for the Sarmiento line, told reporters at the station that Saturday's crash occurred "as it happened on February 22."
