PARIS, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- A Norwegian neo-Nazi heavy metal musician could face up to five years in prison for provoking racial hatred and glorifying war crimes in France, officials said.
Kristian "Varg" Vikernes, 40, is scheduled to go on trial Thursday in France, France 24 reported.
He was also charged with glorifying crimes against humanity.
Vikerenes was arrested in July along with his French wife, Marie Chachet, after she purchased five rifles illegally.
Vikernes said he will attend the trial in order to "defend Europe against Judeo-Christianity."
He said Christians are the "worst destroyers of culture, tradition, peoples and races," and called for the return to a "pagan Europe."
Police said they found anti-Semitic and racist material on his computer and blog.
The musician served a 15-year prison term in Norway for stabbing a guitarist to death.
