TEHRAN, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- An Iranian lawmaker said Sunday that the country is ready to make a nuclear agreement with the West that complies with the non-proliferation treaty.
Kazem Jalali said that the Western powers should take advantage of the impending nuclear talks in Geneva.
"After the 11th presidential election a new atmosphere has emerged ... members should take advantage of the new political opportunity ... and the new negotiating team to reach a compromise," Kazem Jalali told the Tasnim News Agency.
He noted that Iran's nuclear rights still need to be preserved.
The negotiations, set for Oct. 15 and 16, are the first round of talks since Iranian President Hassan Rouhani took office in August.
