Iraq executes 42 terror convicts

BAGHDAD, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- During the past week, 42 people, including one woman, have been executed in Iraq for terror charges, the Iraqi Ministry of Justice said Thursday.

All of those who were executed were found guilty on terrorism charges and sentenced under Iraq's counter-terrorism law, China's state-run Xinhua News Agency reported.

The convicts' crimes "led to the death of dozens of innocent civilians, as well as committing other crimes aimed at destabilizing the security and stability of the country," Minister of Justice Hassan al-Shimmary said.
