TEHRAN, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and British Foreign Secretary William Hague will discuss bilateral relations while in New York for a U.N. meeting, Iran said.
Hague had requested the meeting this month and Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif expressed his willingness at the time to attend on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly meeting, Fars News Agency reported Sunday.
"We do not have any problem with such a meeting, but what is important is its output," Zarif said.
Hague expressed in July Britain's desire to improve relations with Iran.
"We are ready to improve our relations with Iran on a step-by-step basis," he said.
Relations between the two countries suffered in November 2011 when Britain imposed a set of sanctions against Iran. The two countries shut down their respective diplomatic missions over the dispute.
