WARSAW, Poland, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- More than 100,000 protesters of all stripes took to the streets in opposition to the Polish government's changes to labor laws, officials said.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government voted to raise the retirement age to 67, angering both the left and right, prompting days of mass protests in the capital Warsaw. Many blew whistles and carried banners seeking Tusk's resignation.
Protesters are also seeking a higher minimum wage and greater job security, the BBC said.
Since instituting the higher retirement age, Tusk's center-right coalition government has plummeted to its lowest popularity rating since taking office in 2007.
"We're becoming slaves in our own country," said Marek Duda, the leader of the conservative Solidarity Union.
