Egyptian court adjourns Mubarak retrial until next month

CAIRO, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- The retrial of deposed Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak and others was adjourned Saturday by a Cairo court, which said the trial will resume next month.

The eighth session of the retrial, which began in January, is scheduled for Oct. 19-21, Ahram Online reported.

Mubarak and former Interior Minister Habib El-Adly are being retried on charges of political responsibility for the deaths of protesters during the January 2011 uprising that ousted his government.

An appeals court overturned their 2012 convictions in which they received life sentences.

Mubarak's sons Gamal and Alaa, along with some of El-Adly's aides, also being retried.

The October trial sessions are expected to hear testimony from Atef Ebeid, who served as prime minister under Mubarak, current and former government ministers and a former member of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.
