Israeli police say 'sorcerer' duped woman into sex

RAMAT GAN, Israel, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- A self-proclaimed sorcerer in Israel was arrested after allegedly manipulating a woman into having sex with him as a series of magical treatments, police said.

The unidentified man, 39, a Golan Heights resident, was found on the Internet by the woman seeking holistic treatment to overcome emotional despair caused by a breakup with her boyfriend. After a series of expensive "treatments," the man convinced the woman to engage in sex with him, The Jerusalem Post reported Monday.

Matters became more complicated for the alleged victim, who told police she asked the man to physically attack her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend. Police detained the woman for three days before releasing her to house arrest on suspicion of conspiring to cause bodily harm, the newspaper said.

The sorcerer was arrested Sunday night by Ramat Gan police, and could face sexual assault charges, police said. They added they are seeking other female victims of the man, and checking reports of other con men using similar methods to obtain sex and money from women in despair.
