BELGRADE, Serbia, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- The government of Serbia has a new, larger, cabinet following three days of debate in the country's parliament, officials say.
Some 134 members of parliament, a little more than half of the 250-member body, voted to approve the new line-up, B92 and Tanjug reported Tuesday.
Sixty-five members voted against the reshuffled government ministers, while 51 members abstained.
The cabinet grew to 22 members after the ministries of finance and economy were split into separate portfolios and another minister without portfolio was added. The previous cabinet had 17 ministers.
The United Regions of Serbia, part of the ruling coalition, is no longer a part of the cabinet. Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic called the ouster of URS one of his best moves in the reshuffle.
"I proposed that you be part of the coalition government, and now I have proposed that you go out, that is politics," he said.
The restructured cabinet comes after the opposition Democratic Party of Serbia charged the government had done little to improve the economy since coming into power a year ago.
