DUBLIN, Ireland, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Irish police officers say a man found dead at a Dublin waste disposal facility was homeless and likely sleeping in a trash bin before it was collected.
The man, identified as being in his 30s and from Eastern Europe, was discovered Friday morning at the facility, The Irish Times reported.
"It looks like he fell on hard times for whatever reason and was sleeping in this bin probably because it was cold or wet," an unidentified police official said.
The contents of the industrial-sized bin where the man was sleeping were collected and crushed by a garbage truck and then brought to the facility.
"It doesn't seem to be foul play at this stage," the police official said.
However, investigators said they are still unsure of whether the man died in his sleep or as a result of being crushed. An autopsy was to be conducted to determine the cause off death.
