Landslide in China kills eight migrant workers

TAIYUAN, China, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Continuous rainfall from July to early August is being blamed for causing a landslide that killed eight people in China's Shanzi Province, local officials said.

The landslide, confirmed as a geological disaster, buried three cave houses and two ordinary houses in Chagou Village, China's official Xinhua news agency reported.

Eight migrant workers from neighboring Henan Province were living in the houses, police said.

The contractor who arranged housing for the workers has been taken into custody.
