LONDON, July 31 (UPI) -- The think tank Demos said it would present a series of radical immigration-control proposals to British Prime Minister David Cameron.
The proposals include preventing immigrants from claiming benefits for their first two years in Britain, reserving more jobs for British workers and the capping of the number of foreign job-seekers, The Daily Telegraph reported.
More than 1.5 migrants have traveled to Britain since 2004, marking the biggest peacetime migration in history, Demos said.
The think tank said countries without a GDP of at least 75 percent of the average of European Union countries should not be able to join the free-labor market.
Countries should be prevented from "exporting unemployment," Demos said.
The proposals, which were to be presented Wednesday, came during the Home Office's controversial "go home" immigration campaign, the Telegraph said.
Lord Lipsey, a former member of the Advertising Standard Agency's council, said he made a formal complaint about the campaign.
He said he is concerned that the threat of deportation of immigrants is being exaggerated in advertisements on vans that are circulating in London.
Lipsey's comments followed a series of disagreements about the campaign, which Democrats have labeled stupid and unsettling.
