MADRID, July 31 (UPI) -- A German tourist has died in the Spanish region of Catalonia after he attempted an early-morning dive into a pool from a hotel balcony, officials say.
It is the second such incident of the practice known as "balconing" in just over a week, ThinkSpain reported Wednesday.

The tourist, whose name and age have not been released, jumped about 1 a.m. from a fifth-floor balcony of a hotel on the Costa Brava in Girona province.
Police are investigating whether he had consumed drugs or alcohol and whether there were any witnesses.
At least two deaths a year from "balconing" are reported in Spain.
A young Briton attempted the stunt just over a week ago. He remains hospitalized in critical condition.
