Pakistani court to indict Musharraf in Benazir Bhutto's murder

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan, July 30 (UPI) -- Former military ruler of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf will be indicted next week in the 2007 assassination of Benazir Bhutto, a Pakistani court said.

The anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi ordered authorities to produce Musharraf, who has been under house arrest since April, for formal indictment Aug. 6, Pakistan's Dawn News reported Tuesday.

Opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was killed in a gun and bomb attack following a campaign rally in Rawalpindi Dec. 27, 2007. Musharraf was president at the time of the attack.

The anti-terrorism court named Musharraf in the case in February 2011 and months later declared him a proclaimed offender and attached his property.

A petition seeking the release of Musharraf's assets was granted by the anti-terrorism court at a hearing Tuesday.
